Our buddy Brett Mapp is a long-time supporter of the Live Arts Festival and Philly Fringe. He’s both an arts gadabout and deeply involved in the scene, serving on a variety of boards and helping shepherd grants and donations to deserving arts groups. During Festival time, he goes to even more shows than me, and for me it’s work! (Enjoyable work, though). We thought we’d give you a little profile of an all-access pass holder. Here’s a bit on Brett:

Where were you born?
Brooklyn Heights, NYC.
What’s your show title?
“I have a All-Access Pass and I’m not afraid to use it,” or “18 Days and 40 Shows to See.”
What was the first thing you stole?
A G.I. Joe with the Kung Fu grip. My mom had bought me the Six Million Dollar Man action figure instead.
What’s your favorite alcoholic beverage?
Jameson and ginger.
What’s your favorite Philly intersection?
Ninth and Christian—start of the Italian Market and Sabrina’s.
What’s the worst thing you ever did for money?
Medical experiments at the University of Pennsylvania.
Do you own a gun? If so, have you fired it in anger?
No, but I have a lightsaber.
If you weren’t an artist, what would your job be?
Well I’m not an artist, but I am a patron of the arts with no money. I’d like to run an art space so I can see all my favorite shows and also give out grants to artists. Looking for a grant check out Philly Stake [one of the organizations with which Brett's involved].
What’s the most disgusting thing you’ve ever seen on SEPTA?
I grew up on the NYC subway system during the 1970s—SEPTA’s got nothing on that experience.
