It should come as no surprise, but Charles Gilbert, the director of the Ira Brind School of Theater Arts at Philadelphia’s University of the Arts, reminds me through his Brind School tumblr quite how many UArts folks are involved in the Festivals this year.
Brian Sanders, a professor at UArts, is a big name who’s offering Sanctuary, and whose shows often feature UArts students and recent grads. But recent alums are all over the place as well: Emily Rea’s assistant stage managing FREEDOM CLUB, Dog Sees God (which is my first Fringe show, tonight at 5:30, which you’d know were you socializing with me) was born in a UArts producing class, acting alum Davon Williams appears in Between Trains, and a chunk more.
Of course, it would be irresponsible not to create their own Fringe show, right? So they did. Here’s a spotlight on Polaroid Stories, the theater department’s 2010 Philly Fringe show. Warning: language NSFW, so now you have to watch:
